Tunstall Appoints Gil Baldwin as Group Chief Executive Officer

Tunstall Healthcare Group, the leading provider of telehealthcare solutions, today announced the appointment of Gil Baldwin as Group Chief Executive Officer.  Gil will oversee the company's plans for future growth and help to consolidate Tunstall's position as a world leader in telehealthcare solutions.

Gil joins Tunstall from insurance giant Aviva, where he was Managing Director of the company's Healthcare Business, Aviva Health for four years.  Prior to this Gil held a senior civil service position as Head of Operational Planning for a specialised reconstruction unit, responsible for managing public services, infrastructure and economics.

Malcolm Miller, Chairman of Tunstall said: ‘I am delighted to announce the appointment of Gil as Tunstall's new Chief Executive. Gil has a proven track record in the healthcare industry from his successful time with Aviva Health. He has the right mix of skills to grow our business and take advantage of the many, new opportunities that present themselves in the market.'

Gil Baldwin, Tunstall's new Chief Executive, said: ‘I am excited to be joining Tunstall which has an outstanding reputation in the health, housing and social care sectors for delivering solutions which deliver independence and wellbeing for thousands of people. With governments around the world looking at ways to deliver efficiencies whilst enhancing quality of care, this is an exciting time for Tunstall's high quality, cost effective care solutions. The company's expertise coupled with its market leading technology and services provide a strong platform from which we can grow the business in the future.'

Globally, over 860 million people have a chronic disease and between 75% and 85% of all healthcare expenditure is linked to their treatment.  Tunstall's telehealth solutions enable remote health monitoring that can be tailored specifically to patients' needs.  People with long-term conditions can remain in their homes, while health staff can closely and regularly monitor vital signs and respond quickly to any changes.  This helps improve quality of life and helps prevent avoidable hospital admissions.

Telecare technology helps to reduce pressures on social care systems by helping older people and those with long-term needs, to remain independent in their own homes for longer, avoiding the risks usually associated with living independently.  This enables health and social care organisations to deliver more individual care with existing resources and to support a greater number of people.

Innovative telehealthcare systems from Tunstall Healthcare are being used by Governments and health organisations all over the world, to maintain high levels of social care provision and improve efficiencies, whilst focusing on enhancing the quality of life for telehealthcare users.
